Challenge

Ester Simplot Park in Boise, Idaho is a 55-acre site bordering the Boise River in the heart of the City of Trees. This park is the latest Boise Parks Department site to use Baseline technology featuring BaseStation 3200 irrigation controllers, a FlowStation shared flow controller, BaseManager central control, soil moisture sensors, and hydrometers.

Solution

The park has approximately 23 acres of ponds suitable for swimming and fishing. These ponds are partially fed from a well connected to the Boise River. Baseline soil moisture sensors monitor the pond levels and trigger the pumps to fill the ponds when needed. The park also includes trails, docks, wetlands, grassy open areas, and a playground. Soil moisture sensors are placed throughout the park to monitor the irrigation.

The City of Boise is committed to intelligent water management with Baseline’s products. The City not only uses BaseStation 3200 and BaseStation 1000 irrigation controllers, soil moisture sensors, and hydrometers, they also are using several WaterTec S100s for pocket parks that only have 4 or 5 zones. Since implementing Baseline products, the City has seen savings in water use and man hours.
