HydroPoint’s WeatherTRAK Smart Irrigation Controllers Earn Prestigious EPA WaterSense Label

Organizations can comply with water restrictions and take advantage of water savings while eliminating upfront costs

December 10, 2012 – Petaluma, CA  HydroPoint Data Systems, Inc., the proven leader in Smart Water Management, today announced that the WeatherTRAK Smart Water Manager Solution, including all models of WeatherTRAK ET Pro2 and WeatherTRAK LC weather-based irrigation controllers, have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) WaterSense label by meeting the program’s water-efficiency and performance criteria.

The HydroPoint WeatherTRAK ET Pro2 and WeatherTRAK LC controller solutions demonstrate superior product performance for irrigation adequacy. These are the same high standards HydroPoint achieved when the company’s controllers were the first in the industry to pass the Irrigation Association’s Smart Water Application Technologies (SWAT) protocol with a 100% perfect score in 2006.

“The EPA’s WaterSense label elevates the standard of excellence and reliability for water efficient products and we are pleased the smart irrigation category is a part of the WaterSense program,” said Christopher Spain, HydroPoint CEO and President. “Over the past 10 years, WeatherTRAK solutions have delivered measurable savings with immediate ROI for our customers across the country. We are excited to add the EPA WaterSense label to WeatherTRAK Smart Water Management Solutions to accelerate adoption of smart irrigation and maximize water savings. Current WeatherTRAK customers will save more than 20 billion gallons of water in 2012 alone, creating a significant and sustainable impact on future water supply.”

Proven in 25 independent agency studies, the WeatherTRAK ET Pro2 and WeatherTRAK LC smart irrigation controllers dynamically adjust irrigation as landscape water requirements or local weather conditions change using  a proprietary scheduling engine that scientifically calculates irrigation schedules using site-specific parameters, such as plant, soil and sprinkler type and daily ET Everywhere wireless weather data, with validated accuracy down to one square kilometer.

The WeatherTRAK Smart Water Manager Solutions combine these proven controllers with WeatherTRAK Central, the industry’s most advanced cloud-based central control, to give landscape maintainers and property managers visibility into multiple sites and real-time oversight, diagnostics, reporting and remote control.

With the EPA estimating that as much as 50% of outdoor water is wasted due to overwatering caused by inefficiencies in irrigation methods and systems, the EPA WaterSense irrigation controller specification and rigorous performance-based testing measures how well weather-based controllers integrate weather data and a variety of landscape settings to create or modify an irrigation schedule.

Independently certified by ICC-ES, the WaterSense labeled WeatherTRAK ET Pro2 and WeatherTRAK LC controllers deliver enough water to keep landscapes healthy while eliminating overwatering and minimizing runoff, two critical components for ensuring the efficiency and performance of these products. The WeatherTRAK controllers replace standard clock-timer controllers on existing irrigation systems to better match plants’ water needs and eliminate landscape water waste.About HydroPoint Data Systems
