Petaluma, Calif. –Nov. 12, 2008 – HydroPoint Data Systems, Inc., provider of the WeatherTRAK® Smart Water Management solution, today announced the results of the company's annual Green Leaders Survey. Chief responsibility officers, chief sustainability officers and other executives from leading organizations within the public and private sectors shared their insights into best practices for designing and implementing sustainability programs that achieve their financial and environmental objectives.
In these tough economic times, companies are focused on ensuring that sustainability programs drive rapid time to value. Nearly 77 percent of respondents believe that environmental issues pose an economic threat to their businesses. As a result, more than two thirds of companies are moving forward to implement a range of conservation practices that they believe will lead to significant financial and environmental gains.
Green Practices Go Mainstream
- Green Leaders Survey findings reveal that 87 percent of respondents currently implement green practices, and 75 percent already deploy green products
- A majority of respondents expect financial and environmental gains can be achieved through the application of green practices and products
- 35 percent of respondents expect ROI within 24 months
- The survey suggests that the government sector is leading the sustainability charge
- 100 percent of respondents working in government report that their organizations have personnel dedicated to environmental responsibility and currently deploy green products
Best Practices for Green Success
The survey culled insights from respondents into why some green programs are more successful than others:
- Green programs should achieve returns comparable to those attainable through any other business-critical initiative
- Participants agreed on implementing results-oriented programs
- Green programs should align to operations and IT organizations
- Participants reported that receiving feedback about consumption inspires greater levels of conservation
- Programs with executive sponsorship are more likely to garner necessary financial and personnel resources
"When companies are unable to validate the financial gains from green programs, it's difficult to secure budget and resources to sustain them," said Chris Spain, chairman and chief strategy officer for HydroPoint. "Our Green Leaders Survey illustrates that companies understand the need to be ruthlessly focused on green programs' positive impact to the bottom line."
HydroPoint and Environmental Leader will co-present the findings of this survey and further discuss sustainability during the 2008 Green Leaders Survey Webcast on November 14, 2008, 2pm ET.
Paul Nastu, publisher and managing editor of Environmental Leader, will provide commentary on the live Webcast.
